Castle News
March 2017
Our February programme launched with a Fellowship night, one outcome of which was the firming up of a date for a Dinner at Kimbolton Castle on the 22 nd June to celebrate the 23 rd anniversary of the granting of the Club’s Charter.
For the following four consecutive Thursday evenings; we enjoyed a fascinating talk on Armed policing in the UK, an Italian Cultural Evening at the ll Girasole Restaurant in St Neots with some marvellous operatic singing, a talk by Tony McClenaghan on ‘The Contribution of the Indian Army in the First World War’ and finally tipping into early March, an annual event for us, the Kimbolton Fund raising Pantomime evening coordinated by the indefatigable, ‘He’s behind you’ David Watson.
The Purple4Polio Rotary led campaign to eradicate polio from the planet continues, the purple crocuses planted above Kimbolton School ha ha are making a good show.
Asa Feneley will shortly be helping to fund raise further through the sale of Purple4Polio jam.
Wilkin & Sons Ltd. has donated 50,000 jars to Rotary in Britain and Ireland.
Various environmental projects in and around Kimbolton are in the pipeline including pruning the roses in the churchyard and further work in a local sensory garden.
Work-Link Mentors: To celebrate 100 years of Rotary’s own Charity, the Rotary Foundation. 100 young people aged 16-18 currently studying at a state sixth form college have been identified to benefit from a Work-Link Mentor to provide insights by email into their chosen career from people that have been or are experienced in, the area of work the young person aspires to. For each pairing £7.50 will be donated by Work-Link Mentors CIC to charities supported by Rotary. If you would like to help as a mentor please email enquiry@worklinkmentors.org.uk.
