Castle News    November 2016

On Sunday the 27th November in good time for Christmas a hardy group of Rotarians and others installed the Kimbolton Christmas trees along the High street and in front of Kimbolton School. Especial thanks to Stuart and Neil Silby and David Watson.

With the magnificent hospitality of Dr John Rawlinson and Sally, a presentation “Pink Floyd and Pet Goats – Tales from Palliative Medicine by- Dr Maggie Presswood to an audience of around forty, brought home with clarity and a high level of expertise, issues that face us all.

On another medical theme, at Grafham Water Sailing club on the 3rd November Dr Kanchan Rege-Thrasher, Medical Director, Peterborough Hospital took us through the current changes in the Local Health Economy. The implications for local provision were honestly relayed. The extent of the questioning underscored the potential ramifications of merger plans.

Perhaps not unsurprisingly, our annual wine tasting evening has always been popular with the Rotary Club of Kimbolton Castle, friends and partners. This year was no exception. It was a corker of an evening, with marvellous support from Vaughan Clark and his premier crew.

Plans for the 2017 Kimbolton Country Fayre are running to schedule.

This coming month we look forward to our Christmas lunch, now fully booked and on the 8th December Dr John Rawlinson hosts an evening ‘Betjemania – tea, buttered toast and summoning bells’.

The club is supporting the formation of a Rotaract Club in Huntingdon. Open to 18 – 30 year olds Rotaract is a great way of mixing social life with doing good work for the community, please make contact with anybody listed below.
